An Hour from Fort Wayne or South Bend

Syracuse Lake is a recreational oasis in the rolling green hills of Northern Indiana. Syracuse is a fantastic location for a family, home to schools, stores, restaurants, hotels, pharmacies, banking, and other services.

South Bend or Fort Wayne is within an hour’s drive of the lake, each having a unique shopping scene, dining, and entertainment. The cities also house Fort Wayne International Airport, South Bend International Airport, and a selection of Hospitals.

Recreational Waters

Syracuse Lake and its neighboring lake, Lake Wawasee, were created by glaciers over 15,000 years ago.

Syracuse Lake provides a vast stretch of water and a laid-back environment for all sorts of recreation. A canal on the southern shore will connect you to the 3,410 acres of Lake Wawasee.

Boating, water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, sailing, and fishing are popular in both sets of water. In the winter, the lakes freeze over for snowmobiling, ice skating, hockey, or ice fishing.

The lakes hold a vast stock of largemouth bass, bluegill, yellow bullhead catfish, northern pike, perch, and black crappie.

Beaching, Dining, Golfing, and Fun in the City

You can swim, sun, and relax on the sandy shores of Syracuse Lake Beach all day long. Restaurants around the lakes like The Channel Marker, The Pier & Back Porch, or Sleepy Owl Supper Club can be reached by boat.

Maxwelton Golf Club or Wawasee Golf Club are located just off the lakeshore, offering scenic views and a good challenge. Potawatomi Zoo, 4 Winds Casino, River Lights Plaza, or The Oliver Mansion are some of South Bend’s top attractions.

Visit Fort Wayne for Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo, Foellinger-Freimann Botanical Conservatory, Science Central, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, or the Lakeside Park & Rose Garden.
