Belleau Lake is most famous for its fishing opportunities. The lake is stocked in the spring and fall with 1,000-1,500 rainbow trout to keep the population high.

Approximately 14 species live in this system, including smallmouth bass, black crappie, green sunfish, warmouth, rock bass, yellow perch, yellow bass, yellow bullhead, golden shiners, gizzard shad, common carp, and spotted suckers.

Boats are not allowed on this lake, but fishers have an easy time casting from the shores because of Belleau Lake's smaller size.
